ArcView, from ESRI Inc., is the main control center for the Cahill Water Model. The Cahill Water model extension is built using ESRI's Avenue programming language and therefore requires basic understanding of ArcView to use.

The Water Model Extension within ArcView is the starting point of developing a 'best' solution for building. All model results will be generated in ArcView. All optional future land uses can be created and manipulated here. Menu integration to invoke the Visual Basic portion of the model create a seamless environment.

The GIS input files used by the model are typically created in ArcInfo or ArcCAD (which is nontrivial and requires extensive planning and engineering).
